The city walls, thought to have been built between 590 and 580 BC, are among the ruins from the Archaic period unearthed during the recent excavations carried out in Fo\u00e7a.<\/p>\n
These city walls located on the top of Maltepe Tumulus are 5 km long and are also known as Herodotus Walls because they are mentioned in history as the walls mentioned by Herodotus. It is assumed that the 4 km wide structure next to the wall is the gate of the city. The towers on both sides of the gate were charred day by day as a result of the fires.<\/p>\n
