General Rules of Conduct

MOSQUES
In Türkiye, non-Muslims are also permitted to enter mosques. They should avoid visiting a mosque during prayer time and on Friday, the holiest day in Islam. Shoes should be removed before entering a mosque, and certain dress codes should be observed. For example, women should cover their heads, shoulders, and legs when visiting a mosque. Men should cover their shoulders and legs and wear trousers during their visits.

BUSES AND TRAMS
Buses and trams are public transportation vehicles used for transportation for a fee. A transportation pass is available for boarding public buses and trams. Boarding is from the front door and exiting from the back door.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Generally, you can take photos anywhere. If someone does not want to be photographed, this should be taken into consideration. Photography and videography are prohibited in police and military facilities.

MUSEUMS AND OPENING HOURS
Museums are closed on Mondays throughout Turkey. They are generally open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some close for lunch between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM. Open-air ancient archaeological museums can be visited from 9:00 AM until sunset.

ANTIQUES
The export of all types of antiques is prohibited. Enforcement of this ban is carefully monitored. Severe penalties, including small glass fragments, are strictly enforced. It is strictly prohibited to export antiques, old coins, fossils (including seashells), natural stones, etc., by law. Failure to comply with this law results in imprisonment and fines.

This penalty applies to all found and, broadly speaking, all cultural objects.
